Science Slam winners at Global Week

Amrish Patel and Robin Biddulph won the most points from the audience and are therefore this year’s Science Slam winners at the University of Gothenburg’s Global Week. But they are not the only winners – the general public got to listen to some great mini-lectures, the researchers got a chance to talk about their research and all the international Global Week guests got to hear about some of the University of Gothenburg’s many areas of research.

As part of Global Week, Science Slam was arranged in the lobby of the Faculty of Social Sciences on 14-15 November.
 
Wednesday 14 November – winner Amrish Patel

Johan Lönnroth: Can You Use the Same Economic Ideas in Southern Europe and Sweden?
Oana Borcan: Cut the Wages, Breed Corruption
Amrish Patel: Social Norms and Beliefs
Necati Harmankaya: Controlled drug delivery - next generation of bone implants

Thursday 15 November – winner Robin Biddulph - with his four-year research project on Mass Tourism in Impoverished Areas, which is financed by the FORMAS research board (75%) and by the Adlerbertska research foundation (25% sub-project on the relationship between tourism and smallholder agriculture.
